How Greening Rail Secures a Greener Future
Alongside the focus on how we green the railway, we must emphasise the key role that rail can play in greening, or decarbonising, the whole transport sector. Rail can punch above its weight, offering modal shift opportunities as well as greening the journeys of its current passengers and freight customers. Mike will explain how, as a transport mode, rail knows what it needs to do technically and how that will make us green. He will also consider how well those benefits are understood more widely and the attitudes to transport and to travel that we all need to challenge in others, and ourselves as we promote the green future of rail.
