Ex Transport Minister
Steve Norris was an MP for fourteen years during which time he served as Parliamentary Private Secretary in the departments of Environment, Trade and Industry and the Home Office before being appointed Minister for Transport from 1992-1996 during which time he achieved the start of the Jubilee Line Extension and saw the Railways Act through from start to finish. He also took the first Crossrail Bill through parliament. He was twice his party’s candidate for Mayor of London and served on Transport for London for Boris Johnson. He has maintained his involvement in rail in the private sector where he advises several global players. He was a member of the Treasury’s hs2 Growth Taskforce, is a Companion of the Institution of Civil Engineers and an Honorary Fellow of the Association of Project Management. He is Chairman of Driver Group plc and President of ITS-UK.
